EMPLOYMENT

Pool Manager:  The pool manager must have or obtain a pool operator's license.  The pool manager must also successfully complete a Red Cross lifeguard course (including CPR).  The position requires a mature, self-directed individual with good communication, organization, and leadership skills.  This position begins in May and continues through early September each year.  The position includes one-week paid vacation.  Reimbursement for completion of required training courses may be negotiated.  Prior experience is not a requirement.  This position has been filled for 2008.

Assistant pool managers:  Assistant pool managers must successfully complete both a Red Cross lifeguard course (including CPR) and a pool operators course.    

Lifeguards:  Lifeguards must be at least 16 years old as of the date the pool opens for the season.  Lifeguards must successfully complete a Red Cross lifeguard course (including CPR).

These courses are offered at the University of Maryland Campus Recreation Center, Fairland Aquatic Center, and Rollingcrest-Chillum Splash Pool.  Further information about courses at Fairland and Rollingcrest is available through the Smartlink system of the PG County Department of Parks & Recreation.
